SEIS PATAS

“Seis Patas”, resembling an imaginary, six-legged creature, sits atop the concrete stairs and introduces new opportunities for public activities and gatherings. Its presence on the concrete stairs serves as a distinctive landmark that operates on the urban and symbolic levels, transforming the existing plaza into a dynamic space for both programmatic events and everyday use. While the intervention itself is a parasitic approach, “Seis Patas” reconfigures the given stairs of different heights and angles and generates unique shapes and spaces around it.

The intervention consists of two components: a series of “Patas” placed within the footprint of the concrete stairs and a flat roof supported by them. These two elements serve two purposes: the Patas divide the space, and the roof invites people to gather. The semi-outdoor area created serves as the foundation for people’s collective dimensions within the continuous, fractal-like park landscape. While the park demonstrates continuous slopes and openness along with vegetation, “Seis Patas” manifests a more defined engagement with people through more intimate spaces.
